How long has this convention been held?Before September 2010, this Convention was known as the Career College Association (CCA) Annual Convention & Exposition. CCA changed its name to APSCU in September 2010. The first year CCA held a convention was when the Association was formed in 1994. How many people attend the Convention & Tradeshow?We are expecting 2,500+ attendees and exhibitors for the 2012 APSCU Convention. Who attends the APSCU Convention?Attendees are primarily presidents, owners, directors, and administrators of private sector colleges and universities from across the United States and Puerto Rico. What is included with the full registration fee?Full registrations (First Member, Additional Member, State Association Executive, Non-member) receive entrance to both General Sessions, educational breakout sessions, all exhibit hall events, and the IAF/APSCU Concert on Thursday night. My company is exhibiting, do I register through the online system?No, exhibiting companies and staff must register trough the Exhibits Management directly (some exceptions apply). Please contact Exhibits Management with any questions at exhibits@apscu.org. Are there opportunities for me to speak at the APSCU Convention?Yes. The APSCU convention committee will be accepting breakout session proposals now through Monday, January 16, 2012. If your college or company would like to submit a session proposal, please review the rules for entry. I am a speaker, do I have to register?If you plan to attend other breakout sessions, general sessions, or the exhibit hall, you must be registered. I am a member of the press, how should I register?If you are a credentialed media reporter, please contact Chelsea Bowes at Chelsea.Bowes@apscu.org. When does the Convention start and end?The 2012 Convention officially begins with breakout sessions on Wednesday June 20, 2012, at 2:15 p.m. and conludes after the Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. Where are the breakout sessions held?All educational sessions will be held at Mandalay Bay’s Convention Center. Room numbers for the different sessions will be listed in the onsite final program. How do I pick the sessions I want to attend?Pre-selection of sessions is not necessary. You may attend any sessions of your choice, all sessions have open seating. Your convention name badge is your admission to all convention breakout sessions. Are there recordings available of the sessions?No. We don’t record the sessions. What is the dress code for the Convention?Business casual is appropriate dress throughout the "official" Convention events. Other special activities such as the APSCU/IAF Concert Event, or Golf Tournament may require different attire. Please note: The hotel property is very large. The walking distance between some guest rooms and the meeting space could take up to 10-15 minutes, so please be sure to pack comfortable shoes. What certificates are offered at the Convention?We do not offer any CEU credits for attending the breakout sessions. When is the Expo?The exhibit hall hours are: Where is the Expo held?The Tradeshow is held in Bayside B Exhibit Hall within Mandalay Bay’s Convention Center. Am I an APSCU member?Before registering, please check your membership status with APSCU’s Membership Department at (202) 336-6700 or membership@apscu.org. What is the procedure in the event of cancellation of my attendee registration or the registrations of my colleagues and what is the deadline?Please contact our Events Department at events@apscu.org with your request. Registration fees will be refunded only if written notice of cancellation is received at APSCU on or before May 11, 2012. In the event of a written cancellation, 30% of the registration fee will be retained to cover administrative costs. After May 11, 2012, NO refunds will be given. I am already registered but I need to change the credit card that I used…what do I do?Please contact Events Department at events@apscu.org. I am already registered but I need to transfer my registration to a colleague…what do I do?Registrations are transferable. Please contact our Events Department at events@apscu.org with your request. I am registered – can a guest of mine just attend a few sessions?No, everybody attending sessions must have a Convention badge. Your guest may purchase a Spouse/Guest registration which includes entry to all the exhibit hall events, Thursday’s General Session and Thursday evening’s IAF/APSCU Special Concert. May I just go to the Expo? How much does it cost? How do I get a pass?If you’re not registered as a Full Convention Registration, instead, you may register for an All-Day Exhibit Hall Pass for Thursday, June 21st or you may register for a ticket(s) to any individual exhibit hall event. No name badge will be produced for this type of registration – they will just receive a ticket(s). May I buy event tickets when I get to the Convention?Yes, but onsite registration fees are set at the highest price. Also, it is possible for a special event to be sold out in advance of the convention so the best bet is to register early! What is the IAF/APSCU Special Concert?The Imagine America Foundation and APSCU are co-hosting a musical concert that anyone who has registered as an exhibitor or Full Convention registration can attend for free. Your name badge will gain you admittance. For those wanting a better experience, VIP tables are available for a fee. These seats will be sold as a fundraising event for the Imagine America Foundation. We invite all attending the convention to join this special event as another great way to network with your peers in a fun, laid back environment. Blue jeans and casual attire are okay for this event. A cash bar is available for all in attendance. Hosted bars will be available for VIP guests. This event is included with a Full Convention Registration. There are no restrictions on the taking of photos, except politeness and correct timing. I have special dietary needs or religious observances I need to follow, is there food I can eat during the breakfasts, lunches and optional events to meet my needs?There is a place in the online registration process to note any special restrictions or requirements you may have. Especially with regards to allergic reactions: please provide as many details as possible, so we can meet your needs. Can my children attend with me?Everyone that attends must have a paid convention badge. All exhibit floor attendees must be 18 years of age or older. No underage children are allowed in the convention premises. I’m in a wheelchair…do you offer assistance?Mandalay Bay is ADA compliant so there will be handicapped access. However, to ensure everything goes smoothly throughout the Convention events, we recommend you notify APSCU ahead of time using the online registration system and noting any special requirements. I’m having trouble registering online…can someone help me?Please call the APSCU Events Department at (202) 336-6700 between the hours of 9:00am and 5:30pm EST, Monday through Friday for assistance. I’ve registered already but I want to add event tickets to my registration…what do I do?You can go back on-line and check the button to change your registration (confirmation number will be required). You can then add event tickets and pay for them on-line. Tickets will also be available onsite at the attendee registration counter (based upon availability) Can I buy a ticket for just one breakout session?No, you cannot buy an individual ticket to just one educational session. When does onsite registration open?Registration opens on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. for exhibitors and 9:00 a.m. for attendees. When is the cancellation deadline?Attendee registration fees will be refunded only if written notice of cancellation is received at APSCU on or before May 11, 2012. In the event of a written cancellation, 30% of the registration fee will be retained to cover administrative costs. After May 11, 2012, NO refunds will be given. Exhibitors wishing to cancel should consult their contracts. What can I expect at the exhibit hall events?All exhibit hall events offer food and drink and another great way to network and continue your learning experience. Experience new ideas and share your thoughts with fellow attendees. This event is included with a Full Convention registration. Continental Breakfast Thursday, June 21 • 7:15am – 8:15am Coffee, juice, and breakfast food items available. This event is included with a Full Convention registration. Luncheon Thursday, June 21 • 11:30am – 1:30pm A luncheon buffet will be available for those in attendance. This event is included with a Full Convention registration. Reception Thursday, June 22 • 4:15pm – 7:00pm Hosted bar with a sampling of appetizers. This event is included with a Full Convention registration. Continental Breakfast Friday, June 22 • 8:15am – 9:45am Coffee, juice, and breakfast food items available.
